Wisconsin Model Academic Standards and NETS

Wisconsin Model Academic Standards Home Page
Academic standards specify what students should know and be able to do, what they might be asked to do to give evidence of standards, and how well they must perform. They include content, performance, and proficiency standards.

  • Content standards refer to what students should know and be able to do.
  • Performance standards tell how students will show that they are meeting a standard.
  • Proficiency standards indicate how well students must perform.
NETS
The following sets of national standards describe what students should learn during their PreK-12 school experiences and what teachers should be able demonstrate. Professional organizations representing educational technology, mathematics, science, social studies, English language arts, foreign languages, information literacy, and early childhood professional preparation have developed the following standards based on national consensus.

Integration of Standards from Content

Many sites exist on the internet designed to assist you as a teacher in content and standard integration. One need only take a look at the content areas:
  • NCTE - National Council of Teachers of English
  • NCTM - National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
  • NSTA - National Science Teachers Association
  • NCSS - National Council for the Social Studies
Each area asists in lessons and differntiation in achieving standards.

As you start searching for ways to integrate Standards into your lessons with and through technology - this list of sites from CESA 10 should be of value.

Additionally, I believe the following three posts to be of immense value in linking standards and technology to curriculum. Please explore each thoroughly.
